The Program

Latin Jazz is the cutting edge of the art. By merging our mutual North American and Latin traditions, It combines the best of North and South. widening the creative possibilities for improvisation and orchestration. And you can dance to it!
The Chicago Latin Jazz Workshop program is for intermediate and advanced musicians who wish to deepen their understanding of this evolving genre.
Open to brass (trumpet and trombone) and woodwind players (alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones), pianists, bassists, and percussionists, CLJW gives participants the opportunity to work with some of the finest players, and perform in professionally led combos and a Latin Big Band.
Latin Jazz has its own traditions, playing techniques, and creative possibilities. In order to perform it well, one must study with those who truly understand the melodies, harmonies, and rhythms, as well as the past and future of the music.
Don’t wander in the wasteland. Get a leg up by working with the best in the field!
